Ilo-ilo city's Rabiya Mateo to 'raise the flag' of the Philippines in Miss Universe 2020

Miss Universe Ilo-ilo city representative, Rabiya Mateo, was crowned as the new Miss Universe Philippines yesterday, October 25, 2020 at Baguio Country Club.


Rabiya is said to raise the flag of the Philippines in the most beautiful pageant of the universe, the Miss Universe 2020.


The Miss Universe competition has been a global event, providing a platform for women around the world "to be their personal best" since 1952. All throughout the years, the Philippines has been known to be a powerhouse and has already molded 4 winners in the said pageant, ranking the nation as the 4th country to have the most Miss Universe titleholders.


United States of America (USA) has been hailed as 1st in rank with 8 wins followed by Venezuela, 7, and Puerto Rico with 5 sequentially.


Miss Universe USA has yet to choose their representative as their national pageant is set to happen on November 10, 2020.


Meanwhile, Mariángel Villasmil Zulia from Venezuela, Estefanía Natalia Soto Torres from Puerto Rico and Amanda Obdam from Thailand, are just some of the ladies vying for the Miss Universe 2020 crown.


The competition has already created a lot of buzz worldwide, however, there is still no exact date announced yet.
