Resumption of face-to-face classes under study

Department of Education (DepEd) Secretary, Leonor Briones claimed that they are currently studying the possibility of the gradual return of face-to-face classes in 2021.

This response from Briones stems to the availability of three COVID-19 vaccines that was deemed to be 90% effective after human trials by manufacturers from United States and the United Kingdom (Pfizer-BioNTech, Moderna and AstraZeneca).

“Definitely, not this year [ang resumption ng face-to-face classes]. Definitely not until the President makes the announcement, but we are preparing a report to the President based on the current experience,” Briones said.

Briones added that face-to-face classes are bound to occur to areas in safe conditions but will not happen simultaneously and definitely not this year.

“Depende [talaga sa sitwasyon] ang approach kasi depende rin sa number of students,” Briones said. (Depends on the approach because it depends on the number of students)

The said areas will be identified by the Department of Health (DOH) and the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF).
