The chairman of Philippine Red Cross (PRC), senator Richard Gordon, said that President Rodrigo Duterte must be careful with his words after the president’s foul remark, calling the Philippine Red Cross “mukhang pera” (greedy) .
President Rodrigo Duterte last Thursday night called the PRC greedy after the organization resumed its COVID-19 testing services following the government’s payment of nearly half of its nearly P1-billion debt.
Gordon told in an interview with ABS-CBN’s Teleradyo that the government is really required to settle its debt to the PRC for its pandemic testing services.
Gordon also defended the PRC saying that they are not greedy, in fact they are only helping out the country.
"We are not the ones with the debt but them, they were the ones who ordered the test and we just administered it. Should they not pay for it?” He added.
Furthermore, Gordon said that he will give the benefit of the doubt to Duterte which he thinks as the president's was of giving wrong impressions about the largest COVID-19 testing organization.
