Cebu’s lechon (roasted whole pig) is known as the best in the country – famous for its tasty meat and crispy golden skin.
However, a new lechon craze from Danao City, northern Cebu is starting to turn heads and gain some attention for its novel color— black.
Rooted from the desire to try something new this year, Precious Joy Requiso Postrano together with her team thought of ways to uniquely give a twist to the traditional lechon and so, they came up with the black lechon in Danao, they shared with CDN Digital.
“We [wanted] to come up with something new, something unique, and with a twist of the lechon,” Postrano said.
They did not add any food coloring for the lechon appears different in color but they assured that it tastes the same.
“People say ‘napaig na pero wala pa naluto' because of it’s color, as in literal black. But the taste is just the same with the traditional roasted pig,” Postrano explained.
To make sure this lechon experience is truly one-of-a-kind, the black lechon also has a little surprise inside it, as they stuffed the pig’s belly with a native chicken fresh from their farm.
As the holiday season is fast approaching, you wouldn’t want to miss this black lechon.
